Berwick House retirement community is looking for a Active Living Coordinator (Recreation) who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. Hours of Work:

Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. For a total of 30 hours weekly. This position is temporary

Pay:

Starting Wage is $28.74 (with a class 4 drivers license) & $23.38 (no class 4 drivers license) (Includes covid-19 wage subsidy), plus differentials as applicable.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Active Living Manager this position assists with the planning, organizing and implementation of recreation programs to meet the interests and needs of the Berwick by the Sea residents. Day-to-day facilitation of programs for residents in independent living Apartments. Assists with the creation and delivery of diversified programs and services to meet the physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual needs of all residents. Provides participants with a safe and comfortable environment by remaining aware of and following health and safety policies and procedures. May be responsible for “Emergency Response” for the building and its occupants during designated evening shifts and/or on bus outings.

Qualifications:

  • Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR Level C
  • Class 4 BC Driver’s License
  • Food Save and Serving It Right
  • Preferably qualified with a degree in leisure studies or a Certificate in Recreation with a minimum of 3 years as a program facilitator
  • Proficient with MS Office: Excel, Word and Outlook

Experience:

  • Related experience working with seniors and/or with supporting recreation or leisure programs would be an asset
  • Experience with assisting at events would be an asset
