Business & Information

Description

Ready to create compensation focused business outcomes through analytical acumen and creativity?

What You’ll Do

As part of the Performance Pay & Insights crew, you’ll be focused on stewarding our frontline sales commission and monthly performance pay programs in TELUS Retail Limited corporate stores and kiosks.

Working in close partnership with the team lead, strategy manager, and peers, you’ll contribute to our coordinated Retail Performance Model (RPM) suite of programs designed to maximize sales performance. You’ll play a key part in helping to grow our results by aligning our primary reason-to-sell programs with growth opportunities and business priorities.

Our team and what we’ll do together

  • Compensation Steward
    • Managing our commission and monthly performance pay rates, budget, and financial forecasting and bookkeeping
    • Developing and maintaining the structures and processes necessary to ensure accurate pay configuration and payments
  • Collaborator
    • Working with peers from our insights, recognition, and rewards verticals to ensure coordinated and complementary program updates
    • Working with our team members supporting pay processing and inquiries to clarify program documentation and optimize program structures to maximize efficiency and reduce unnecessary confusion and support tickets

What you’ll do

  • This is a senior consultancy role that you can grow into
    • Feel like you bring a lot of the above, but not all of it? That’s cool – let’s talk!
  • We care way more about what you can do, and how you think, than any educational credential or certification you may or may not have
  • You can live anywhere in Canada. Big city, small town, or not-a-town. We are passionate about all forms of Diversity and Inclusion, including geographic diversity
    • Note: while you can live anywhere, and will most often work asynchronously, there will be some regular rhythms of synchronous work with teams across Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time-zones

Across the business you will be:

  • Savvy Sponge
    • Taking in inputs from sales, systems, and strategy forums (know what’s happening around us)
    • Assessing what’s happening around us and thoughtfully connecting the dots to potential opportunities/impacts for our key pay programs when and where relevant
  • Thoughtful Listener
    • Immersing yourself in field and business requests and feedback
    • Digging “beyond the ask” to unearth deeper needs and motivators, discerning the difference between good ideas, good ideas ahead of their time, and finding great ideas nested inside of bad ones
  • Collaborative Negotiator
    • Not everything is doable. Working with colleagues and stakeholders from across the business, you’ll work together to find solutions and make smart compromises that move things forward. (“No, but…”)
    • Not every directive should be implemented as described. You’ll be trusted and empowered to “think beyond the ask”, and expected to consider and share-back creative solutions that deliver desired outcomes while thoughtfully considering limitations, capacity, and other trade-offs
    • Sometimes you’ll need to pivot. While often planning farther out, there will be times when you’ll have to work quickly on more immediate response or remediation efforts. You will need to be able to discern what requires more immediate action, triaging and sidelining less time sensitive priorities, with exceptional stakeholder management and communication
  • Strong Storyteller
    • Helping teams across the organization understand the why behind our program structure, leading both executive and sales teams through program updates and changes

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Curiosity, a passion for sales, and an analytical mind
  • Clear, compelling, and influential, communication (written, verbal, and visual; synchronous and asynchronous), with an ability to get buy-in for your ideas at field, team, and executive levels alike
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to partner successfully with peers within and across teams
  • A track-record of developing solid working relationships built on effective listening, trustworthiness, credibility, and honesty
  • Pragmatic problem solving, with an openness to compromise, a commitment towards progress, and the ability to work creatively around constraints
  • Initiative and focus, making the most of significant stretches of uninterrupted time to do high quality, thoughtful work
  • An integrative mindset, with the ability to see the “big picture” and understand how your work is connected to other teams’ work and the broader strategic context

Great to haves:

  • Proficiency with Basecamp and Google Workspace is an asset, but not a requisite.
  • To be considered for this role, you must:
    • Be performing at standard in your current role for a minimum of 12 months
    • Notify your support person of your application
    • Formally apply online
