Digital News Editor
(6-month contract)

Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate digital news editor to support our digital news team.
● This role will be a 6-month term contract with the possibility of extension. Schedule will primarily be 4 x 10-hour shifts, including evenings, some weekend work and holidays as needed.
As a digital news editor, you will support online delivery of news content and develop and grow our audience reach and improve interaction.
Key Responsibilities
● Support and collaborate with a team of journalists.
● Prioritizing digital news and strategies, while also collaborating with the broadcast news team.
● Ability to select relevant stories, reflecting the values and diversity of our market.
● Strong writing and editing skills. Ensures our content is original and relevant and meets our journalistic standards.
● Responsible for creation and editing of online content and social media.
● Work with the news team to ensure content is customized to maximize value on each platform.
● Develop and implement strategies to grow distribution on current and emerging social media.
● Analyze digital metrics.

Qualifications and Experience
● Experienced digital journalist.
● Relevant post-secondary diploma or degree.
● Video editing and graphics skills are considered an asset as well as experience with social media management and content creation.
● Familiarity with platforms such as TikTok, X, Instagram, and YouTube is beneficial.
● 2 years minimum of recent, related experience.
● Knowledge of Canadian Press Style.
