We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Director, the Manager leads the Shelbourne House - Housing Program, set to open January 1, 2025. This role involves hiring the team, creating and implementing policies, leading licensing efforts, and establishing links with stakeholders like MCFD, BC Housing, Island Health, and other service providers. The Manager oversees a multi-disciplinary team, youth care plans, case management, and ensures adherence to harm reduction and trauma-informed approaches. As part of the leadership team, the Manager contributes to the organization’s overall health and culture.

This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Managers are on-call on rotation for one week at a time and receive a day off in lieu. The hourly wage is $33.00-$38.25 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field
  • Preference will be given to those with a master’s degree and a clinical background
  • 5+ years of management experience overseeing programs or services within the non-profit sector
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Theoretical and working knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, and Housing First principles and practices
  • Experience managing and motivating a diverse, cross-functional, high-performance team
  • Knowledge of current best practices and experience in the housing sector, public and mental health
  • Content expertise about youth homelessness
  • Proven track record of building partnerships and collaboration

Working conditions

  • Operates out of the Shelbourne House, or other Threshold location with notice
  • Travel is required to attend events, conferences, and meetings.
  • On-call duties required.

Special requirements

  • Emergency First Aid certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Immunization records, including TB testing and COVID 19 Vaccinations
  • Criminal Record Check, completed Threshold
  • Agree and follow our policies and processes
  • Valid drivers’ license and a reliable vehicle with business-level insurance
