Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a clinic as a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) or be an interim physiotherapist awaiting their practical exam. We welcome those aspiring to join the Equilibrium team as a fully licensed physiotherapist upon successful registration. The Senior PTA will assist physiotherapists in the delivery of patient care, including therapeutic exercises, modalities, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach exercises to patients as prescribed by physiotherapists.
  • Set up and treat patients with modalities such as Shockwave, TENS, Hydrocollator packs,
  • and ultrasound.
  • Assist with patient treatments, ensuring patient understanding of the
  • prescribed treatment program.
  • Clean treatment tables, modalities, and supplies after each patient.
  • Monitor and assist patients on and off equipment.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining physiotherapy supply inventory.
  • Document patient rehabilitation progress accurately and promptly.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced physiotherapy assistants, helping them develop their skills and ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Assist with challenging or specialized physiotherapy cases, working closely with senior physiotherapists to ensure effective treatment plans.
  • Oversee scheduling, record-keeping, patient flow, and other administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth daily operations and compliance with clinic or facility policies.
  • Support the clinic’s values and mission by providing excellent patient care and promoting a positive clinic environment.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of work experience as a PTA or similar experience
  • Experience with modalities including TENS, Hydrocollator packs, and ultrasound.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic health record systems.

Education:

  • Completion of a two-year college program as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), or a degree in Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, or a related field.

Terms of Employment

  • Anticipated Start Date: November 15, 2024
  • Permanent, Full-time, 30 hours per week, with additional hours as needed. Additional hours worked will comply with BC's labor laws regarding overtime pay.
  • Workdays are Monday through Saturday, with two days off, which may be taken on non-consecutive days.
  • Wage: $28.85 per hour
