The Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA) is looking to hire four or more part-time Event Site Supervisors to support our Lights of Wonder event in downtown Victoria.
If you are a detail-oriented and organized people-person who is ready to take on the task of supervising and coordinating daily tasks for a large holiday light sculpture installation, as well as live performances and activations, then this is the perfect role for you.
Areas of responsibility:
Working directly under the Event Management Team and with DVBA staff to ensure smooth-running daily operations for a large outdoor public event during the month of December.
Performing key customer service tasks throughout the daily operations of the event; including greeting, answering questions, solving issues, and/or contacting support as more complex issues arise.
This position will lead the supervision and management of the overall site along with the other scheduled site supervisors on shift. Duties will include responding to the changing needs of the event, addressing site related circumstances and making key decisions as needed, or contacting support or leadership to assist.
Daily testing of technical equipment, assessing on-site fixes and/or communicating maintenance needs for light sculpture structures.
Checking in and facilitating set up of performance groups, ensuring performance timeline is adhered to.
Ensuring cleanliness and overall appearance of event site.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and knowledge:
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
At least two years of experience in a customer service role, or…
At least two years of experience in working public events
Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written
Strong problem-solving and issue management skills
Common sense
Outstanding time management skills
Keen attention to detail
This position may be required to lift up to 25 lbs.

The fine print: This is a temporary, contracted part-time position, for the month of December only (with training in the final week of November). Set schedule, 15 to 40 hours a week depending on availability and event needs; evenings, weekends and holidays required. We pay bi-weekly, by direct deposit. Hourly rate: $30/hour.
