The role of Deputy Program Manager, Build Support Program (DPM) is a direct support to the Senior Manager, Build Support Program. The DPM supports the Sr. Manager in all aspects of the Build Support Program, including Program development, specification compliance, contract management Program deliverables, risk management, reporting and procurement. This role supports the effort to ensure the goals and objectives of the Build Support Program are accomplished within the prescribed schedule, budget and to the client's satisfaction.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. 

What you’ll do

  • Direct and engage on all contractual and relational issues related to Build Support.
  • Participate in negotiation on contract values, change, and project improvements.
  • Actively participate in Program progress reviews, project progress review meetings, and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Oversee the process of providing Program deliverables, both to the customer and to senior leadership.
  • Supervise the Program's risk management process.
  • Be a formal point of contact for Program level issues with senior customer representatives.
  • Act as the primary liaison with VSY for Seaspan related fabrication activities.
  • Maintain informal contacts with contract authorities and provide feedback from such interaction to Senior Leadership.
  • As requested, attend various meetings and events that promote VSL and its programs.
  • Investigate and pursue improvements to the Program and present potential improvements to Senior Leadership for ratification.
  • Act as a liaison between the shipyards to align them in build strategy and timelines. 
  • Other responsibilities as needed. 

What you’ll bring

  • Completion of a degree in Business Administration or Project Management. A combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • 6-8 years Project Management, contract, or technical shipyard experience.
  • Operational experience in a senior capacity on naval vessels is an asset.
  • Professional designation(s) would be an asset.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies.
  • Demonstration of exemplary business ethics, integrity, and honesty in all situations.
  • Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, both in writing and in person.
  • Strong client service orientation. Demonstrated abilities to understand and translate client needs into successful work plans.

The estimated salary for this position is $130,500 - $159,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
