As a Baker + Decorator at Ooh La La, you will be a key part of our small, talented, tight-knit team that prepares high quality, creative and delicious cupcakes and cakes.
What Your Role Looks Like
-Be responsible for reviewing production schedules, following recipes, accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, and baking each item to perfection
-Decorate signature and custom cupcakes and cakes, paying close attention to the order form details
-Ensure each product leaving the kitchen meets our high standards of freshness and appearance; spot check for consistency in colours and quality in flavour and texture
-Receive and check food orders and supplies from vendors when Lead Baker + Decorator/Bakery Manager are not available
-Identify any supplies that are running low and notify the Bakery Manager
-Coordinate the orders for the day, ensuring each order has been accurately completed, is clearly labeled and is ready for pick-up or delivery; communicate any specific details with the Retail Team
-Work alongside your team to keep your station and the bakery clean, using the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning checklists as per Island Health guidelines
-Participate in creating new feature cupcakes and product ideas
-Contribute ideas for marketing and social media posts
-Participate in off-site events, festivals, sampling opportunities as required
Why You're a Great Fit
-You have your Level 1 Food Safe certification (or committed to getting it within 30 days)
-You have a minimum of 2 years baking and decorating experience
-You work independently to complete tasks as required with minimal direction

-You have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements
-Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
-Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg (48lbs)
-Frequent turning and reaching
-Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
-Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
-Able to work in a warm kitchen environment with limited personal space
