We are currently seeking an Paralegal or Legal Assistant to start work in Spring 2025. Supporting a team of 4 lawyers in a fast-paced busy Family Law practice. High conflict, complex matters with high net worth clients.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with experience in Family Law
  • Graduate from an accredited Paralegal program, Legal Assistant program or applicable work experience.
  • Familiarity with the new Supreme Court Family Rules, as well as the Provincial Court Rules
  • Familiarity with BC Family Law forms and procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on file and task management
  • High-Functioning use of Microsoft Applications
  • Familiarity with ESILaw preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and manage ever-shifting court time lines
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Manage lawyer's calendars and associated BF items
  • Able to efficiently prepare legal and administrative correspondence and documents including Family Law pleadings
  • Outstanding communication skills, in person, on the telephone and in writing
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents with precision.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Proofread legal documents for accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist lawyers in preparing for trials and meetings by gathering necessary information.
  • Manage project timelines and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Perform data entry and clerical tasks to support the legal team efficiently.
  • Manage Lawyer's calendars
