Hakai designs and builds integrated remote, off-grid and grid-tied energy systems, both commercial and residential. We are passionate about renewable energy, electrification, and the climate.

About the role: Hakai Energy Solutions is seeking a motivated and personable Technical Solar PV Sales Associate to join our growing team. This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Victoria office. As part of our dynamic and expanding company, you’ll play a key role in connecting clients with innovative solar energy solutions. You'll be a trusted technical PV educator, helping homeowners and businesses understand the benefits and feasibility of going solar.

Competencies: 

  • Engage with prospective customers to understand their energy needs and recommend customized solar PV solutions
  • Prepare and present technical proposals and quotes using internal tools and software
  • Candidates must demonstrate a passion for solar energy and the growing renewable energy industry in Canada. 
  • Must be able to manage a high volume of leads and support potential clients with correct education and product information. 
  • Must be adaptable, handling multiple sales leads and maintaining client communications. 
  • Ability to work in person at our office in Victoria, BC with frequent travel in company vehicles for meetings with clients and site visits. 
  • Clear demonstration of ability to work with a diverse team environment and engaging clients.  
  • Experience in conflict resolution and collaborative communication. 
  • Ability to demonstrate unparalleled customer service. 
  • Computer and software proficiency including MS 365. 
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Preference given to applicants with: 

  • Sales experience, ideally in a technical field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of solar energy systems. 
  • Experience in the field of renewable energy and construction project managers/coordinators are considered strong assets. 
  • Familiarity with commonly used electrical products in residential and commercial applications. 
  • Demonstratable experience in technical sales.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Leading residential grid tied project site surveys. 
  • Participating in commercial and off-grid project site surveys. 
  • Producing client project proposals. 
  • Conduct inside sales activities to generate leads and close sales. 
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop effective sales strategies. 
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients. 
  • Producing cost analysis, and project cost estimates for clients. 
  • Assisting in preliminary designs and project proposals. 
  • Communicating project feasibility with lead design team. 
  • Conducting communication via phone and email with clients. 
  • Maintaining CRM software and sorting client leads. 
  • Managing and updating client review and referral programs. 
  • Maintaining high level understanding of current PV technology and trends. 
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety requirements as well as COR compliance for all work activities.
