The Project Manager plays a key role in the coordination, development, and implementation of high priority initiatives, designed to strengthen and diversify the enrolment of international students in UVic’s faculties. The position works within the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Management (OREM) to support the faculties and the broader institution in achieving strategic enrolment goals. This role will manage complex projects that cross academic and administrative boundaries, including academic governance processes.

Objectives:

  • Leadership of a project team and project oversight, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform program proposals and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across academic and administrative units.
  • Apply advanced problem-solving skills to address challenges and navigate the development of new and complex faculty-driven international programming initiatives.

This position may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree plus a minimum of five years of relevant experience in project management and post-secondary administration. A valid Project Management certification and/or training (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Master’s Certificate in Project Management) is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Demonstrated expertise in project management principles and methodologies.
  • Understanding of the Canadian and international post-secondary education environments.
  • Experience navigating academic governance, including Senate and curriculum approval processes is an asset.
  • Ability to conduct research, environmental scans, and data-informed decision support.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), including experience drafting proposals and briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-unit projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and adapt to change.
  • Knowledge of privacy, data sharing, and intercultural considerations in international program development.
  • Experience in an academic or registrarial setting is an asset.
