Skilled Labour | Production Team Member - FT

Van Isle Windows Ltd. is hiring full time employees to work in our manufacturing plant located at 404 Hillside Avenue in Victoria. We have been in business since 1978, and are the largest local manufacturer and installer of quality vinyl windows and patio doors on Vancouver Island.

The job involves working with raw materials and components, on a variety of different machines to produce vinyl window and patio door units, window and patio door screens, and insulated glass units for our customers. Interaction with other factory team members and internal customers is essential.

If you have experience, that’s great, but we're also willing to train the right candidates. You should be able to read a tape measure, and have some aptitude for using hand and power tools. We need employees with a willingness to learn, who follow our standard operating procedures, are punctual, reliable and come to work with a positive cheerful attitude.

Primary duties include:

• following instructions from experienced employees and your supervisor
• feeding raw materials into production machinery and assembly of goods on the production line
• loading and unloading items from machines and assembly lines
• quality testing checks as directed and preparing goods for shipping
• use lifting equipment
• maintaining work areas and equipment
• measuring and confirming sizes
• following all safety and Covid protocols in place
• other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications:

• experience with hand tools and power tools an asset but not necessary
• willingness to take instruction, constructive feedback and to follow standard operating procedures
• desire to work cooperatively in a collaborative team environment and open communication

• work days normally run Monday to Friday, noting daily overtime and weekend work is sometimes requested
• the successful candidate will take direction from your supervisor, and report to our Production Manager
