Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and reporting to the Head of Credit Execution, Western Canada, the successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, thrive in a dynamic team-based environment and actively participate in a wide variety of complex senior debt lending mandates. Working hours are dictated by portfolio demands under a hybrid work environment with both days in the office and at home. Additionally, occasional travel for client and team meetings will be required.
Your job:
• Support National Client Group, Western Canada team members (Execution and Relationship Management) in managing and growing an existing portfolio of relationships (both bilateral & syndicated);
• Work directly with clients/prospects, financial advisors, private equity sponsors and internal banking partners (i.e.: cash management, commodities & derivatives, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, investment banking and loan syndications) to perform required due diligence on prospective opportunities;
• In collaboration with Relationship Managers, actively recommend, structure and negotiate terms & conditions with existing and prospective clients;
• Perform high-quality credit analysis, deal structuring and underwriting of existing and new lending opportunities/mandates;
• Participate in the negotiation of loan documentation with clients and external counsel;
• Manage workflow and review junior team members credit submissions to ensure compliance with group standards and internal policies;
• Regularly interact with Credit Risk Management to facilitate authorization of transactions in accordance with the Bank’s risk guidelines;
• Work in close collaboration with teammates to ensure that client and collateral files are updated in a timely manner;
• Help manage the National Client Group, Western Canada portfolio to ensure covenants remain in compliance with agreed upon terms & conditions and that annual reviews are completed in accordance with Bank policies;
• Actively participate in developing the competencies of junior team members; and
• Assist the Head of Credit Execution, Western Canada, as required, in reviewing the credit quality of the National Client Group, Western Canada portfolio.

Requirements:
• Hold a Bachelors’ degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field;
• A professional designation(s) and/or an advanced degree is considered a strong asset;
• Minimum of 8 – 10 years of experience in corporate or upper mid-market commercial banking;
• Demonstrated experience with credit underwriting, loan structuring (bilateral/syndicated transactions), financial statement analysis, financial modeling, capital structure assessment, and legal documentation review & negotiation;
• Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) used in the creation of presentations, confidential information memoranda and other written documents;
• Experience in training and coaching junior staff; and
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to form and present well-reasoned recommendations.
