MANAGER OF TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT (VICTORIA)
The Vancouver Island Construction Association is a not-for-profit association that advocates and fosters resiliency, excellence and prosperity for the construction community on Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and throughout partnerships with additional areas of British Columbia. We are there to support and serve the construction community in the Industrial, commercial and institutional areas of construction. We promote a greater understanding of the construction industry to policy and decision-makers, and the value it holds within the communities we serve and live in. We are making strides in the industry with programs like Construct Your Future (youth employment program) and the Tailgate Toolkit (addressing mental health and substance use in the construction industry), Women in Construction, and the Young Builders Network, and have developed a fantastic training program aimed at creating gold standard practices and work in the construction industry.
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Training, Education & Workforce Development is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of VICA’s education, training, and workforce development initiatives. This role ensures that programs respond to industry needs, address workforce skills gaps, and enhance the capacity of the construction sector across Vancouver Island.
The Manager oversees the full training cycle, including research, curriculum planning, vendor management, delivery coordination, and program evaluation. The Manager will be supported by an Education Coordinator, who provides administrative and operational assistance with program logistics, participant communication, and registration management.
WHO ARE YOU?
You are first and foremost a self-starter — someone who is organized, resourceful, and thrives when balancing multiple projects at once. You are passionate about lifelong learning and workforce development, with a knack for translating industry needs into impactful training and education programs. You are a people person who enjoys building relationships with stakeholders, instructors, and participants, but you’re also comfortable working independently (and with minimal supervision) to move projects forward.
You thrive in an environment where no two days are the same — whether it’s collaborating with subject matter experts, sourcing new training opportunities, or facilitating a session yourself. You’re strategic and creative, always thinking about how to improve processes, strengthen partnerships, and create value for the industry. You are adaptable, flexible, and versatile, ready to respond to shifting priorities while keeping your eye on the bigger picture. Above all, you are motivated by making a difference — enhancing skills, supporting careers, and strengthening the construction workforce across Vancouver Island.
