The Total Compensation and Recruitment team is responsible for the development, implementation, communication and administration of total rewards, recruitment, wellness, and disability management strategies in support of UVic's goal to recruit and retain a diverse group of exceptionally talented students, faculty, and staff.

We are seeking an HR Advisor, Classification & Recruitment Services to focus on job evaluations and recruitment services: co-chair joint JE committees; providing guidance to managers on job evaluation and inclusive recruitment; keep HR data accurate; and deliver reports/metrics that inform decisions, plus support key HR projects.

The salary range for this position is: 

  • Recruitment range: $80,232 - $100,160  maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.   
  • Performance range: $115,106 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases. 
Job Summary

Mandate/Core Purpose of Role:

The HR Advisor, Classification and Recruitment Services plays a key role in supporting the university's human resources functions, with a focus on job evaluation and recruitment services. Reporting to the Manager, this position provides expert advice and guidance to departments and hiring managers on job classification, recruitment processes, and related HR matters.

Objectives:

  • Conduct job evaluations and provide guidance on classification to ensure accurate and consistent job placement across the university.
  • Support recruitment efforts by providing guidance to hiring managers in developing job postings, coordinating recruitment processes, and providing candidate support.
  • Ensure adherence to university policies, collective agreements, and legislative requirements related to job evaluation, recruitment, and employment practices.
  • Maintain accurate HR data and contribute to the development of metrics to measure the effectiveness of job evaluation and recruitment processes.
Job Requirements

University degree in related field such as Human Resources Management, public or business administration or other social or health related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources field, in a multi-level, multi-union environment or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • HR certification (e.g., CPHR, CCP) preferred.
