About Us

The Green Thimble is a welcoming sewing shop in Victoria where creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. We offer high-quality machines, recirculated fabrics, and notions, and we love helping customers find exactly what they need. Our goal: build a thriving community that sews more, wastes less, and feels empowered to repair and create.

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Sales & Marketing Coordinator to help grow both in-store sales and customer traffic. This role combines sales leadership — especially sewing machine sales — with social media engagement and in-store customer service. Ideal for someone who loves sewing, people, and creative problem-solving, and who gets excited about seeing their efforts directly help a small business thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sewing machine sales through excellent product knowledge and customer relationships
  • Help improve overall store sales — suggest promotions, merchandising ideas, and opportunities
  • Engage with customers in-store: greet, assist, recommend products, and finalize sales
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing activities (social media posts, email content, promotions, events)
  • Track results from sales initiatives and share insights regularly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspiring store environment
  • Provide support with basic checkout, restocking, and retail tasks

Skills & Experience

We’re happy to train the right person, but the following are strong assets:

  • Retail sales or customer service experience
  • Confidence speaking with customers and identifying their needs
  • Interest in sewing or willingness to learn about sewing machines and products
  • Creativity and comfort using social media for business promotion
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to take initiative

What We Offer

  • A supportive and creative work environment
  • Opportunity to grow the role and increase hours with demonstrated success
  • Employee discount on products
  • Training on sewing machine features and sales
  • Commission on machine sales and other high-ticket items.

Wage & Compensation

  • Starting wage: $20 per hour
  • Commission: Earn extra on sewing machine sales
  • Growth potential: Hours and pay may increase with demonstrated sales success

Schedule

15–24 hours per week to start, including most Saturdays, with flexibility to adjust when needed. Additional hours may become available as revenue grows.
