Job Description

The Sales Executive is a revenue-generating role responsible for driving new membership growth and advertising sales for the Chamber. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager and working closely with the Membership and Events teams, this role serves as the Chamber’s primary sales professional.

This position is ideal for an experienced, relationship-driven sales professional who thrives in a consultative sales environment, enjoys engaging with business leaders, and is motivated by performance-based earnings. The Sales Executive plays a critical role in expanding the Chamber’s reach, strengthening membership engagement, and supporting the long-term sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive new Chamber membership sales by identifying prospects, conducting outreach, and closing new member accounts
  • Sell Chamber advertising opportunities across digital platforms, including website and e-newsletters
  • Manage a full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery to proposal, close, and onboarding, promoting the value and benefits of membership
  • Meet or exceed revenue targets and key performance indicators (KPIs), contribute to sales forecasting and strategic planning
  • Represent the Chamber at networking and community events to build relationships and generate leads

Member Engagement & Retention

  • Host onboarding and introductory meetings with new members to ensure long-term engagement and value realization
  • Build strong relationships with members to identify upsell, cross-sell, and renewal opportunities
  • Manage membership cancellation conversations with a value-based retention approach
  • Strategize retention and engagement methods for overdue and unengaged members
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for members, acting as a Chamber ambassador within the business community

Sales Operations & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipelines, forecasts, and membership changes to support sales performance and reporting
  • Use CRM data and KPIs to inform sales strategies and improve performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align sales efforts with marketing campaigns, events, and member initiatives
  • Contribute ideas and insights to support the Chamber’s vision of being the region’s most diverse and influential business association

Benefits of Working with The Chamber

  • Compensation:
    • Base Salary: Annual salary range of $45,000 - $50,000 commensurate with experience
    • Commission: 20% on all membership and advertising sales, paid monthly.
    • Commission uncapped, OTE of $75,000 - $90,000 for a strong performer
  • Flexible Schedule: Staff may choose betweenFriday Flex’ hours or Standard Hours
    • Friday Flex: 8:00-4:30 Monday to Thursday, 8:00-2:00 Friday
    • Standard Hours: 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary education in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of proven, quota-carrying sales experience, preferably in B2B, membership, advertising, sponsorship, or professional services
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner)
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and CRM software is an asset
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings and evenings outside of business hours to attend events and meetings
  • Ability to travel within the Greater Victoria region to attend in-person events and meetings
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills
  • Confidence engaging with all levels of business owners, executives, and decision-makers
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Collaborative and adaptable in a dynamic work environment
