Education

An Administrative Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the faculty and/or department/school functions efficiently and effectively by managing administrative processes and procedures, supervising staff, and coordinating with other departments and colleagues as needed. 

Objectives:

  • Improve current processes and optimize procedures to ensure the School or Department operates smoothly and effectively.
  • Oversee office operations and planning, financial management and assistance to the School Director or Department Chair.
  • Support the School or Department leadership to meet long-term planning and academic goals.
  • Supervise administrative staff including recruiting, performance development, coaching, and workload management.
Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent an undergraduate degree plus three years of related administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven track record achieving project goals on time and producing deliverables.
  • Familiarity with and interest in the School or Department, and area of study.
  • Knowledge of UVic’s, roles, policies, and systems is preferred.
