Red Barn Market is looking for a key member to help support and train all deli departments in all locations under the direction of the Director of Retail Operations. This position will be responsible for deli merchandising and training all deli managers and their staff across all 8 stores. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a prior deli or kitchen experience, and a sense of drive and ambition to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Performance Management
- Oversee daily operations of 8 deli locations, ensuring consistency in product quality, presentation, and service standards
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices
- Conduct regular store visits to support performance
- Ensure compliance with company standards, health regulations, and food safety laws
Financial & Sales Management
- Manage deli profit/loss performance across all locations
- Drive sales growth through merchandising, promotions, product mix optimization, and seasonal planning
- Control labor, food cost, shrink, and operational expenses
- Budgeting and financial analytics
Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor Deli Managers and Assistant Managers
- Build strong leadership pipelines and succession plans
- Set performance expectations
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and teamwork
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards
- Lead food safety training and certification compliance
Customer Experience
- Champion an outstanding customer experience across all locations
- Address escalated customer issues promptly and professionally
- Ensure consistent execution of customer service standards
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
- Partner with Merchandising, Retail, HR, and Marketing teams
- Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and growth
- Develop recipes and plan menus
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 5–10+ years of progressive deli or foodservice leadership experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of multi-unit management experience
- Strong background in retail grocery, deli, or foodservice operations
- Proven experience managing budgets and Profit & Loss accountability
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Deep knowledge of deli operations, food safety, and labor management
- Ability to manage multiple locations and priorities simultaneously
- Effective communication and organizational skills
