About the Role:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all maintenance in the retirement community.

  • Full-time, Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience, salary range between $68,000-$70,000.
  • Must be flexible in hours of work to meet operational requirements.
  • After hours calls as required

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of equipment and systems, to ensure maximum productivity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of Berwick. Provides a safe, clean environment for all residents, staff and visitors. Responsible for all maintenance functions including general clean up and repair to equipment, grounds, parkade, suites and common and staff areas. Identifies, coordinates and directs all contract work to be completed. Directs and supervises maintenance staff.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of maintenance and general repairs in a hospitality setting
  • Good working knowledge of and experience in repairs, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, safety procedures, and operating a variety of equipment
  • A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience including managing and adhering to budgets, and managing employees or contractors
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to direct, guide and coach staff and manage human resource issues
  • Ability to manage & maintain departmental budget
  • Experience handling emergencies such as power outages, fire, and plumbing emergencies
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, fire suppression systems, fire alarm system, commercial kitchen equipment, and elevators would be an asset
  • General computer knowledge including Microsoft programs (MS Office Suite)
  • Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) programs would be an asset
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid and CPR
  • Grade 12 or equivalent & a valid BC drivers license
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills with co-workers, seniors, and the general public
  • Demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality customer service and hospitality
  • Strong time management skills including organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and fulfilling responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good judgment, patient, and respectful to others
  • Friendly and professional demeanour
