Peninsula Co-op is a Vancouver Island-based co-operative with a mission to build strong communities and to benefit its member-owners. With approximately 450 staff, Peninsula Co-op operates 17 retail fuel and convenience centres, 10 liquor stores, 3 commercial card lock and home heating outlets, and a full-sized food store. The Co-op generates approximately $300 million in annual sales and donates over $500k each year to local charities. The Co-op remains locally owned and proudly shares profits with its 127,000 member-owners, community, and staff.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking an experienced and creative Marketing Manager with strong leadership skills. This is a full-time, in-person, one (1) year contract role (maternity leave) based at our Support Office located at D100 – 2261 Keating X Road, Saanichton, BC, V8M 2A5

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As part of our Central Operations team, you’ll play a key role in creating and leading the delivery of marketing and digital initiatives that strengthen our brand, grow loyalty, and drive results across Peninsula Co-op and The Liquor Co. 1977. In this role, you will:

  • Execute retail marketing plans across liquor, grocery, fuel, and convenience stores, ensuring consistent and timely delivery across all channels
  • Manage the rollout of promotions, campaigns, and seasonal initiatives across in-store, digital, and media platforms
  • Maintain campaign calendars, timelines, and execution tracking to ensure alignment and on-time delivery, while monitoring campaign and digital performance and reporting insights and recommendations to the VP of Central Operations
  • Track and manage marketing expenses against approved budgets, identifying and flagging variances
  • Manage and support the development of digital, media, and in-store marketing assets, leading the Graphic Designer and Digital Marketing & Content Specialist
  • Provide strategic direction and hands-on support for digital marketing execution, including social media, website updates, email marketing, Google Ads, and SEO in coordination with external partners
  • Ensure all creative and campaign assets meet brand standards with consistency across banners and channels, reflecting the Company’s tone and quality.
  • Drive membership acquisition and retention through multi-channel campaigns, regular member communications, and the activation of community-focused events and promotions
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and solution-oriented culture
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Managers, Retail Operations and Retail Programs, the Coordinator, Communications, and media partners to ensure effective in-store marketing execution.

WHAT YOU BRING

You have 5+ years of marketing experience with 2+ within a leadership role, ideally within multi-site retail environments such as grocery, liquor, fuel, or convenience, with a strong track record of delivering strong marketing campaigns for both in-store and digital channels. You have experience leading and developing teams through coaching, performance management, and day-to-day leadership, and you apply sound brand judgment to ensure consistency across creative assets, campaigns, and channels.

You are comfortable working with CRM platforms, digital marketing tools, and performance reporting software, with a solid understanding of paid digital marketing, audience segmentation, tracking, and attribution. You can provide insights and recommendations, while also remaining hands-on in creating and adapting marketing assets using tools such as Canva, Google Ads and Adobe Creative Suite. You are organized, results-drive and enjoy working in fast-paced environments.
