The salary range for this position is: 

  • Recruitment range:  $79,376 - $87,518 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement. 
  • Performance range: $103,243 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases. 
Job Summary

Mandate:
Reporting to the Manager, Paid Marketing, Analytics and Systems, the Senior Campaign and Marketing Strategist provides strategic leadership and hands-on expertise across complex marketing and campaign initiatives at UVic. The role ensures that campaigns are grounded in audience research, aligned with institutional priorities and delivered through integrated, multi-channel approaches.

Objectives:

  • Lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing and campaign strategies that support institutional priorities and deliver measurable results
  • Lead campaign research using audience understanding, data and performance analysis to inform strategic direction
  • Guide internal teams and partners to inform objectives and success measures, ensure effective delivery and scalable ways of working and meet outcomes
  • Contribute to improved consistency, prioritization and sustainability in how marketing campaigns are planned and delivered across University Communications and Marketing

Workload may increase during key campaign milestones or launch periods.
 

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate credential in communications, advertising or marketing, or a related field plus minimum 5 years of relevant experience in campaign planning and project coordination. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Strong knowledge of integrated marketing principles, including campaign strategy, audience development and cross-channel planning across paid, earned and owned media
  • Strong data and analytics skills, with the ability to interpret performance data, identify insights and translate findings into strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Strong working knowledge of market research techniques and methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches to audience insight and campaign evaluation
  • Strong working knowledge of current digital advertising platforms, including social and programmatic
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex marketing initiatives that combine strategic planning with hands-on execution, exercising sound judgment about when and how to engage directly
  • Strong project leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes within desired timelines
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and resolve complex issues, develop practical solutions and implement effective strategies in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Strong budget management skills, including planning, managing, and optimizing annual campaign budgets to achieve measurable outcomes and return on investment
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions, providing strategic guidance to colleagues and partners
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust, influence decision-making
