WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Peninsula Co-op is seeking a Head of Marketing (Contract) to support the execution of our retail marketing initiatives during a maternity leave coverage period. This full-time role is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of day-to-day marketing activities across our retail divisions, including liquor, grocery, fuel and convenience stores. This position is based out of our Support Office in Saanichton, BC, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work within British Columbia.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Working as part of the Central Operations team, the Head of Marketing partners closely with the VP of Central Operations and the Senior Manager, Retail Programs, while leading a small marketing team that includes a Graphic Designer and a Digital Marketing & Content Specialist. You will be focusing on turning strategy into action, coordinating campaigns, supporting retail execution, and ensuring marketing initiatives reach our members and customers through in-store and digital channels. We are looking for someone who:

  •       Executes retail marketing plans across multi-site retail locations
  •       Manages the rollout of promotions, campaigns, and seasonal initiatives across channels
  •       Maintains campaign calendars, timelines, and execution tracking to ensure alignment and on-time delivery
  •       Monitors campaign performance and reports on marketing and digital content results
  •       Tracks and manages marketing expenses against approved budgets
  •       Manages and supports the development of digital, media, and in-store marketing assets
  •       Provides strategic direction and hands-on support for digital marketing initiatives, including social media, website updates, email marketing, Google Ads, and SEO in coordination with external partners
  •       Ensures all creative and campaign assets meet brand standards, maintaining consistency across banners and channels
  •       Drives membership acquisition and retention through multi-channel campaigns, regular member communications, and community-focused events and promotions
  •       Leads, coaches, and develops team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and solution-oriented culture

 

WHAT YOU BRING

You have 7+ years progressive marketing experience leading marketing initiatives in multi-site retail environments (grocery, liquor, fuel or convenience retail is an asset). You bring a strong track record of delivering strong marketing campaigns for both in-store and digital channels. You have experience leading and developing teams through coaching, performance management, and day-to-day leadership, and you apply sound brand judgment to ensure consistency across creative assets, campaigns, and channels.

You are comfortable working with CRM platforms, digital marketing tools, and performance reporting software, with a solid understanding of paid digital marketing, audience segmentation, tracking, and attribution. You can provide insights and recommendations, while also remaining hands-on in creating and adapting marketing assets using tools such as Canva, Google Ads and Adobe Creative Suite. You are organized, analytical, collaborative, results-driven and enjoy working in fast-paced environments.
