The Department of Educational Psychology & Leadership Studies (EPLS) is part of the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria (UVic). It offers undergraduate and graduate academic programs, professional certificates and continuous learning opportunities designed for learners, educators, leaders and organizational professionals. 

Working closely with Academic Advisors, the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Registrar Office and other campus units, the Programs Assistant provides administrative support to the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The position provides key administrative support in a wide variety of academic tasks related to student recruitment, admissions, registration, program completion, awards processes, and other department initiatives as needed. 

The Programs Assistant is the first point of contact and provides accurate information, advice and guidance regarding University and Department policies and procedures to students, staff, faculty and instructors. This staff member contributes to an excellent working environment by being welcoming, knowledgeable, socially and culturally sensitive, and by maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

Job Requirements

Experience:
This position requires a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to three (3) years working within a post-secondary environment or within an organization.

  • Ability to handle difficult interactions with tact and diplomacy; exercise independence, initiative, and good judgement.
  • Good organizational skills including attention to detail and time management.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (i.e. MS-Office Suite), and experience interacting with online systems.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:
Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
