The Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary Society seeks to expand its Board of Directors.
The Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary is a charitable, non−profit environmental conservation and education organization in Saanich. We are seeking to expand our Governance Board with strategic, and collaborative community members to support and promote the Society’s mission and programs.
Guided by an updated policy manual and governance practices, this volunteer Board supports the Society’s mission to conserve and restore Nature Sanctuary lands and waters, while inspiring community stewardship engagement and enhancing collaboration with First Peoples of this region.

As a member of the Governance Board, the Director’s key responsibilities are to:
Ideal Board members bring the ability to navigate complex issues with a balanced and adaptable approach and have skill (or a willingness for training) in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel) and M365 Teams. You enjoy working as part of a team and are motivated to help with projects that bring our community closer to our shared mission.
We welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives and experience. Applicants are required to reside in the Capital Regional District (CRD) and to complete a Criminal Record Check (free for volunteers).
Training Provided:
New board members are provided with an orientation to their role and responsibilities as a Society volunteer and Board Director, as well as the mission and work of the organization.
